Data found on these sites
that was supplied by individuals should always be verified with primary
source data such as state, local, and federal records. Examples of
inaccurate data supplied by individuals and how correct data was found will
be discussed.

Kathy Mazusrky– Cleaning and
Maintaining Tombstones
Kathy Mazusrky Bailey is the
"keeper" of the graves of fallen LEOs in the area. She is widely recognized
for her work and advocacy with and for Law Enforcement.
She will be doing a
presentation on the proper care (cleaning/maintenance) of tombstones.

Joseph Danvers– Lost Names for Local Areas
Joseph
is the owner of Shady Southern Tier and Looking Back, Southside
History (Facebook groups) and a group expert of Broome County
History. His presentation will focus on name changes and/or lost
names for local areas. For example, the area near Downs Ave was once
referred to as "Downsville," not to be confused with the town of
Downsville that was taken for the reservoir.

Eileen Patch is a member of the Daughters of the American
Revolution, the Mayflower Descendants, and the Daughters of Union Veterans
(of the Civil War). She will tell how she came to join four groups needing
proof of ancestry to join. By showing charts and applications, she will
share what she knows of her Mayflower, DAR and DUVCW ancestors. She will
also talk about what value the groups have had for her.

The
very popular “Show and Tell” night. Dig
out your favorite photos, scrapbooks, and family heirlooms. If you don’t
want to speak to the whole group, you needn’t; but bring a display if you
can. Did you travel to a new resource location? Have you discovered a great
new source of info on the internet? Read a great helpful book? Come one,
come all, and enjoy!
